I wonder if Wh. Leghorns more nervous than Campbell ducks?

I have only one Leghorn, so I don't know about others, but mine doesn't even try to step away from me when I pick her up. She actually wants to be petted, and will hang around me for attention! Then again, I hand raised her with 9 others and had a lot of time to spend with them. She's an exchequer, and very pretty.

Given enough space and worked in a calm, deliberate, consistent fashion- leghorns are among my favorite breeds. With their flopped over combs, I think the hens are beautiful. Roosters in my experience can become very human aggressive. Both hens and roosters can be subject to frostbitten combs. They do not handle change well (but what chickens really can?) and are very flighty during predator atttacks- which may be a good thing. Try a couple of different strains. The rose comb light brown leghorns are less subject to frostbitten combs. I think the stream lined body type of the Mediterranean breeds is very attractive.

And the eggs are HUGE.

My leghorns have done fine in an unheated coop, down to -26. Bit of frostbite on the combs, but otherwise OK. I have them in with larger birds, which probably helps.
