I wonder what that noise is....

Well the chickies were making some weird noises so I decided to investigate. One of them was taking a dirt bath in the pine shavings!!! It was an interesting feat to witness!

they are funny little suckers eh. Mine love dirt baths and it's hilarious watching the roll over like a dog. Mine don't make much noise though. Now, if I feed the live meal worms... oh the sounds they make then!! It's almost like they're purring they're so happy.

I get such a kick out of watching my girls take dirt baths. Is the sound you are referring to the propeller sound of their flapping wings? It reminds me of the sound of a ruffled grouse starting their mating dance or a mini-helicopter starting up. I also get a big kick out of watching them sunbathe. They look so undignified, flopped over on their side with one wing stretched out. In either case, if I didn't know what they were doing I would think there was something serious wrong with them
