I would like to say something to everyone.

PO messed up my shipping and both the seller and i were highly upset. i read on here that the people who do the sorting and all dont care whats on the package even if it says fragile!! what they need to be more carefull with their handling. i took the ultamte gamble lol first time incubating and i am using shipped eggs and 3 of my own wish me luck.

as long as the seller does their part ei packaging properly sending clean eggs and any other requried info such as npip testing info ect they are done. from there its not their responsability. with po handling and the buyers way of incubating there is NO guerntee that the eggs will hatch. if the saller has good hatch rates at their house then it is pressumed that ALMOST all eggs are sent fertile but there is no way to really tell unless they are cracked open or after at least the 7th day of incubation and even if they dont take off they may have been fertile but the po handling just caused to much damage to the eggs ei scrambled detached air cells xrays all play a part in the fertility of an egg. if you are a buyer then you MUST understand this, buying shipped eggs IS a gamble, as long as the seller has done everything possable to make sure your eggs arrive safely from them and when they hand it to the post office it is then out of their hands.

now if bought and not package right or they are dirty i would first contact the seller and discuss it with them before writing a review otherwise if all was done right but you got damaged eggs then thats the po fault not the sellers so no review must be writen on the condition the eggs are in when you get them (if they were cracked or broken) only the way they were packaged and the cleanliness of the eggs

I'm thrilled if ANY hatch! Ok, that might be because I've been using an LG for incubating....

so I just got an email with a similar story...The person said the eggs were "not that fertile" because she only got 1 to hatch. I have set eggs here every week and all have at least started to grow till I killed em with my poor incubateing skills. LOL

Edit to add: Good thing I havent killed my paints yet or I'd have to kill myself!

You didn't say which area. I hope its not Florida. I just ordered Araucana eggs

FL and VA for me...every batch of eggs I send to those states have detached air sacs or are 100% clear. I can send out eggs the same day from the same pens to different states (I have) and get totally different results. It's frustrating!

I ordered from SC and I hope it has something to do with a hub between OR and FL, or maybe going over the Rockies. Heres hoping.

I am so glad that I found this thread! I just bought my first group of hatching eggs of Dominiques to test out my incubator that my amazing hubby is making for me tomorrow... I won 15+ dominque hatching egs for only $1.25 plus $14 shipping!

Anyways, back to why I am happy I found this thread. I wasn't sure what to expect from having eggs shipped to me and now I know that I shouldn't expect much... I'm not saying that to sound umm... b!tchy... I'm meaning like I know that whether the eggs hatch or not is completely left to chance based on the shipping & handling conditions and if the eggs are actually fertilized. I am so excited to try hatching my first set of eggs...

I had someone tell me that none of the eggs I sent were fertile, because they didn't do anything at all. They said that if they HAD been fertile, that they would have at least had blood rings or something.

Um, no. Same thing as Jenlynn4, I was setting eggs weekly with at least 80% hatch rates, so it had to have been the shipping.

Considering the fact that it's a miracle that we can pack eggs well enough to put them in the mail and have them arrive intact, it's really amazing that we get any chicks at all. But I keep trying!

I have been giving this some serious thought. Could it be that long flights at 60,000 ft in the cargo hold of an airplane cause the eggs to get too cold thereby killing the embryo????

I'm sure they don't fly first class LOL.
