Hi guys! Does anyone here sell sexed female Pekin ducklings in NY or NJ? I would love to buy at least 2-3 of them. If you do please tell me here I will respond ASAP thank you!

Metzer farms?

Its an online store that ships to all locations.

They ship around the US and even around the world. I am from the Philippines and I ordered Golden Layers ducklings and they ship to my country. I am sure they will ship to New Jersey and New York even if they are from California.

Are they guaranteed to be all alive? Unfortunately whenever I see reviews on websites they say that some of them die from travel because they don't provide any food or water. I was hoping to drive there because I don't want them to die I really want their eggs because my current ducks which are Cayugas are not good layers.

Food and water is not needed for the first 48 hours of a chicks life. The still retain the nutrients from the yolk and so can be shipped without anything as long as they arrive within a 3 day time frame.

This being said, you should go ahead and order from a hatchery. I personally recommend Cackle, every single one of my orders has been correctly sexed and alive.

I ordered 20 ducklings from Metzer and only 3 of them died. New York is much more near to California compare to the Philippines so you may get your ducklings all alive.

Do you have an incubator?
If you have, You can buy raw uncooked balut eggs from Asian stores because the ducks they use are layers.

Suddenly I remember I have a cousin from New Jersey and I asked her if she knows any duck farm and she gave me

I've found that it's almost impossible to find local farms or duck breeders who offer sexed ducklings -- at least where I am, in CT, I could only find straight run ducklings locally. Since I just wanted females I decided to go with an online hatchery.

Originally I ordered from Murray McMurray because it's closer to CT than Metzer is (since Metzer is located in CA), but when I found out that they get their ducklings directly from Metzer & they actually charge more for shipping than Metzer does, I cancelled that order + then immediately reordered the exact same ducklings from Metzer directly. It saved me close to $30 for the same exact birds -- I still had to pay the small order shipping fee since I'm only getting 6 ducks but it was only about $18 instead of the $45 shipping that Murray McMurray was charging me originally.

Metzer ships the ducklings with a dixie cup of GroGel (which looks a lot like green jello) taped to the inside of the shipping box, so the ducklings do have access to some nutrients while on their journey... Although as mentioned earlier, they don't need any food for their first few days of life because they absorb the yolk during hatch & that provides them enough nutrition to make it through shipping.

Metzer also providers a heat pack for small orders of birds so they'll stay warm on their trip since they don't have the benefit of a lot of body heat in the box when there aren't a lot of ducklings being shipped. They can shop as few as 2 ducklings in an order, but I believe with such a small order there is an "extra small" shipping fee that is closer to $35 compared to the $18 for small orders. It's definitely worth it though to make sure that they're alive and well during shipping!

I'm worried about my babies dying in the mail too because I've heard that there have been a lot of tragic incidents recently, with the USPS being so slow & losing shipments, and a lot of people are getting boxes full of dead chicks + ducklings when they go to pick them up from the post office. Most hatcheries, Metzer included, have a guarantee that the birds will be alive for at least the first 48 hours after you pick them up from the post office. If there are any deaths before the first 48 hours is up all you have to do is get in touch with their customer service & they'll either refund you your money for the decreased birds or they will ship out a replacement order (as long as there are at least 2 birds in the replacement order AND the replacement cost doesn't cost more than the original order). Obviously no one hopes that they'll have to call customer service to have them sort any of that stuff out because nobody wants to deal with dead ducklings, but at least they guarantee their birds & do their best to help you if you do suffer any losses.

Good luck with your new ducklings, wherever you end up getting them from!

Not true

Metzner provides gel food and heat packs when they ship.
