His tail will get longer. My Silver(Fred) is a Hatchery bird so not sure how long his tail will get. Hopefully since Fred has an awesome Girl (Wilma) some of his sons will have nice tails.
One key is to keep them off the ground. When Gagone came here last week, I was not quite ready for him, but with the weather being right for shipping we took advantage. Anyway him and both girls spent a week in my spare bathroom perched in the shower curtain rod.
They have nice roomy protected coops now(in the barn), after winter we will have thier outdoor coops done.

Yes Yokohamas have long tails, as do Sumatras, satsumadori, a few of the longcrower breeds, and a few others that some folks are breeding here in the US.
I have some of these little roosters if anyone wants some. There are like 7 to choose from.
6 are phoenix and one is a ginger red minohiki type bird.
