got a deal for folks-- Ideal sent me some wonderful production rhode island red male chicks as packing peanuts for my order of banties.
Does anyone want to fatten them up for fryers? I'd love to trade them for another breed so there is more diversity in the yard and get rid of a few so my hens aren't so beaten up by so many roosters

Glad the missing hen showed up!

I saw a pic of BCM they are so gorgeous looking!

Spring has definitely sprung. We have six baby bunnies plus 4 pgymy goats were born this week. My eggs are due to hatch on tuesday. Spring is a great time of year.

Glad the hen returned.

I am waiting on babies to be born down in the barn (sheep, goats, rabbits) and chicks to hatch in the 'bator.

Would anyone be interested in this pair if I brought them to Burlington with me? They are less than a year old (Will be 1 in July). They are crossbreds. The rooster has an extra toe on both foot suggesting either some Silkie or Houdan breeding. I got them as eggs from TX from someone on BYC but I can't remember what their user name was. I remember she had a frizzle roo and a OLGB roo running with a bunch of hens some frizzle. I was hoping to get a frizzle out of it but did not. Anyways...they are mutts. I will keep them if nobody wants them. They are nice birds and from one of my first ever incubation attempts. I was just thinking if somebody did want them I could let them go as I am really wanting to concentrate more on purebreds and EEs only. Here are a few pics.

As Promised

I just hatched 6 of MissPrissys beautiful BBS Orpingtons

SOOO CUTE
I think I have 2 black, 2 blue and 2 splash but one of the "blues" is being difficult

Here's the group

Here's a close up of the one to the left of the two splash babies.
I have 10 photos and in half I could be convinced it was black and in the others blue. It's tough in person as well

I also just hatched a pile of Barnevelders..

You are so lucky! I want some BBS Orps so bad! And you got some from MissPissy. I think I am turning green with envy. I love the color blue in a chicken! I have some Buff Orps crossbreds that are Blue in color that I just adore (out of my blue crossbred hens from momof3

)but hopefully later on I can get my hands on some real Blue Orpingtons.

Hi everybody;

Congrats Clay! Now your busy season begins..
Lora, the boys and I went to two swaps in MN last weekend, Hutchinson and New Ulm. Both very busy places. Lots of interesting stuff. Even saw a baby Emu and no, we did not bring it home. We did take the incubator along again and hatched one chick in the hotel. And what a cutie! A Vorwerk EE cross. We named him Hutch after the town of Hutchinson.

Now he is at home with a little Serama chick named... Starskie... okay, not my idea and they both are growing up with the Modern chicks. Sold all of our Serama chicks, and two adults. Have lots of stuff in the incubator. 3 banatm Buttercups to hatch on Sat. I am anxious to see what they look like, and for the upcoming swaps in April and May. Anything in Iowa during those two months?
Spring is so close I can taste it!

Ok all the chicks are so adorable. I can't believe I waited this long to hatch my own.

Now taking the incubator with that is commitment.

I plan on going to Burlington Swap(April 5) and try out the Maquoketa one on the 18th?. I hope I have those dates right.

I crossed my buff orpingtons with my salmon faverolles. I'm curious to see what they look like. I read they did this at one time and the chicks grow faster.

I just put my first batch of eggs in the incubator two days ago. I have 6 buff silkies and 7 beautiful brown Welsummers eggs in there at a balmy 99.2 degrees. I've had some flucuations in the humidity level but attempting to keep it around 40%. Hope I am doing this right....

I love hatching. Last year my 'bator ran for 5 months straight. This year I have 2 'bators running.

One week 'til Burlington. I am getting so excited!

I just bought some stuff off Zazzle (Out of my own store) and am hoping it gets here in time to resale at Burlington. I am also bringing some young chicks to sale.
