I know good-guy Clay has been trying to give you all some roo's before they hit the stew pot. I'm going to try to piggy-back on his generosity and rehoming skills. I will have 4-5 nice wheaten marans, french, that will need to meet a stock pot or be rehomed. I am still choosing the one to stay with me, but if anyone has interest in these other roo's, let me know. It will likely be a month before I rehome them.

They are all from Tennessee stock, and out of 24 expensive shipped eggs, I have 3 hens and 6 roos. Ouch! Need to work on that hatch percentage. Michelle

flash point farms: how big are your quail and what kind are they again?
the pair I have aren't quite feathered out yet - they have baby feathers on their heads and are just a bit bigger than the day old chicks... am I doing something wrong?

No more chickens for me. Though I was tempted with Clay's roosters.

The fox got my spare Welsummer rooster today. I'm going to have to do something about that. Or just continue to feed him my extras.

I went and picked up 40 chicks, 2 geese and 3 ducks from Sandhill. It was there $20.00 assortment. They are all so cute. The kids of course are attaching themselves to certain ones. I also have my salmon faverolle crossed with a blue orpington rooster chicks hatching. I can't wait to see what they look like.

Welcome Twix.

The only thing I can think of is that they need more protien than chicks do. Mine are about the same size as yours though, so no, I don't think you are doing anything wrong. Mine aren't completely feathered out either.

They are Bobwhites.

clay - you're evil... I am considering adding one of your roosters to the flock and have absolutely no room for anymore chickens

There is always room for just one more, than another and another. lol

Twix doesn't have very many. evil laugh.

The faverolle/orpingtons hatched. They are all blue. So cool. Just makes it harder to part with them. Two have really fluffy beards. I'm keeping them.

To help Clay with his roosters. I have to go through my chicks again. I know there are some hens. They would go nicely with Clays roosters.

Can't we find some brand new Iowa person with about 2 chickens and a huge hen house? Can't we lure someone like that into this thread, but instead of "here kid, ya want some candy?" it would be, "Here newbie, want some roosters?"
