Have a question for everyone. Where do you get your pine shavings? Looking for ideas other than buying individual bags. Both Theisen's and F&F sell by the pallet-load (bags on a pallet) but it's not hardly a savings - was only 10 cents/bag at F&F. I need to do a coop clean-out in a major way and keep putting it off.

Thanks!!

I like to hear that people are shopping! I got some neat stuff for you to take home, if you like chickens that is, some real cuties!!!

Stephanie, I'll be happy to save you some space next to us. bring some smaller pens that folks can see into. For chicks, I'd recommend a clear 20 gallon tote with a lid. Might cost you 10 or 12 $ but... it keeps kids from "squeezing the Charmin". All kids should keep their hands in their pockets! I tell mine (which is a waste of time), to look with their eyes not their hands. Let me know how big of a spread you think you might want. Maybe I can have the boys sleep their through the night! Fat chance!

Unless you live near a sawmill or lumber yard, I think you're s.o.l. unless, there is a horse stable that orders large quantities they might be able to get you in on a deal?

Melissa,
The cochin chicks were hatched 02/15. Glad they are thriving! Hope you like Rocket, he was one of our favorite roosters! We just didn't need him for breeding so I let you have him.

See you at the swaps!

Hope the weather will be good for the swap, want to get a couple pigeons for my loner. maybe a few banties for me and a couple others for our sentinel flock culled most of them last year.

Was there someone who said they wanted d'uccle hens? I am considering bringing mine. There are 4 of them, two are about 1 year old and the other two will be two in July. There is a 5th one that is d'uccle X serama. She looks like a peach colored mille fleur. I am really torn on selling them, they are sooo darn cute and friendly (well except for the serama mix - she's a little flighty)

Two of them are missing part of their beard right now - they got them wet this winter when drinking then the feathers would freeze and break off. Let me know if anyone is interested.

ETA: Please save me a spot Eric! You can show me the ins and outs

My chicks already live in a big tote - that is what I had planned to bring them in. The roosters are another story.

How old are the roosters on your roster Stephanie? I forgot about them with the paperwork. I think we will finish that up in Waverly, if thats okay with you. Will save what space I can or share ours with you, whatever comes first!
