Have been in contact via email, with the chicken rescue lady in the Keys. She lives on mainland FL and makes a once weekly trip to Key West (90 minute drive) I assume to pick up wild chickens caught by animal rescue and were are setting up a time to meet so I can get some eggs!
I am anxiously awaiting her email reply to my offer to buy her lunch, dinner, coffee, wine or whatever so we can chat with her about her job. She will drive right through Islamorada where we will be. I'd love to go to Key West with her on her run but she does that on Monday and comes back Tues. Mon., is when we arrive, and Tues., is when we leave, conflicting schedules.... Will keep you updated.

Ok, i was just wondering because the feathers didn't look right. I thought maybe some how we messed them up while incubating them lol.
The ia blues are in a new pen and i guess jerrit is going to build a "breeding pen" for the buttercups sometime. Also i noticed today, i put the crate in for the buttercups by the cage door, and the blues slept on it last night and some of the poops were bloody. :\\ so if there is bloody poops tomorrow i guess we are going to have to treat for cocci. Or if there is something else they could have, they act fine though. The poops are solid too, not runny or anything and beside the little blood look normal.

Those could be cecal poo. Just wait and look for more. Also, also, search amd check out the chicken poop chart here on BYC first.

In case you have never seen this, this is a baby pic of the Buttercup girls.

I completely forgot about that kind of poop! I would think it is probably that because the birds seem healthy and active and it is only those few poops.
Oh the eggs we put in the bator had no signs of development so we tossed them, its going past day 4. I think the bator got to low of a temp when the heater went out. Jerrit said a few might have looked like they started to develop idk he said something like the white mark/bullseyes thing on some was like speckled out. We got an egg today and of course he had to crack it open

looked fertile so hopefully we can try again. .....We are selling the Brinsea we have too, it can't keep the temp well enough.

The Bearded Circus Lady's egg has a pip so am hoping she will be a mommy tomorrow morning! Her other chick that hatched in the bator is really cute, just adorable. It would win a cute baby contest, wings down! I am concerned that her other egg won't hatch. She has been sitting on that wooden egg for a long time and I can not candle it. Hope it's okay.

He's 12 i have a 12 yr old step daughter too and other than the typical teenage girl drama and hormome issues ( yes at 12) she's fine.

The Boy on the other had homework is a huge issue, he trys to lie about homework and chores. he skates by with as little as he can. and then he is the best. boys are suppose to be easier as they get older thats what 'they' say.
oh and both are 'shared' children. she lives with mom and visits us and he lives with me and visit dad. that has a bit to do with it.

TOday was great i had 20 happy chickens everyone was talking and picking thru old hay. tomorrow is poop scraping day i'm actually excited that it will be nice enough to play in the sh*t.
