What is with it not getting there! I will have to ask grandma again if it has been returned to her.

I was wondering with the iowa blues. I was talking with someone and they said that the brownish parts on the ia blues is probably gold birchen coloring. And that the Iowa blues are supposed to be silver birchen. Is that right? Would the silver be on the wings and back part too then?

I got an Iowa Blue egg yesterday! It was under the roost, frozen solid and cracked of course, but an egg none the less! Certainly it is from the older ones I bought at the Iowa City show, but that should give us some idea when the rest should start. Those were hatched 9/1, so 22 weeks to the day correct?

From the information I have been able to find, brown or black coloration is common and babies can be either black or brown when hatched. I don't know which is preferable. We really need to get together and decide what the goal is so we know what traits to avoid.

I completely agree. I was hoping my pullets would get a little (just a little) bigger before they lay. These would be 9/15 and 9/22 hatches but I'm not sure which is which. What shade of brown was the egg?
