The fair turned out awesome my daughter won champion-best fancy breed and she also won outstanding poultry exhibit with her mille cochins
She ended up getting 5 blue ribbons in total

Yes I am trying to build some numbers of Golda's old Line.
The ones I have here, have never been crossed with any other lines.
Should have some available in the future.

I would really like to find some Good Quality or SQ Black Giants in Iowa or close.

Our 4-H fair was today and it was not very good. Had a great increase in the number of exhibitors but the kids did not do a very good job with their birds. Didn't know their stuff and did a poor job of cleaning their birds. As a committee member, I was embarrassed.
The kids that took the time to attend the presentations I was involved in, I was proud of them, they listened. But the ones that thought they needed no education... proved that they did need to attend one of the classes we offered. I realize the heat is hard on birds like Buff Orps and such, they will shed their feathers but the judge pointed out dirty feet, mouse chewed tail feathers, etc. And many of had their birds labeled wrong. One kid had this big ole' Barred Rock hen labeled as a bantam! So were many of the LF. those kids didn't know the difference.
I guess from this point you diagnose and reformulate. Some changes need to be made, thats obvious.

I have my first broody and she is sitting on 2 eggs. I really didn't want her to hatch any but she wasn't giving up. So she is a buff orpington and I read that they do go broody more than some other breeds. Shesssh... she is constantly having to share her nest box. I am taking my black sex links out of it all the time. I didn't think they were suppose to go broody. Well tell that to the 3 of them that are always trying to sit on those eggs.

My orp either sits in the box with them or she sits on the roost in front of her box. They should hatch this coming weekend. We will see. I have 6 new chicks coming tomorrow or Wed. I suppose I could give them to the BSL but I really don't want to chance something happening to them. These are some Delawares I have been waiting to get started on.

I have a buff orp that has been sitting on a nest out in some tall grass. I couldn't find her and decided she was gone, but even after those horrendous storms we had she stayed stuck on that nest! I need to put up a shelter for her I guess

I haven't had any predators around for a while, but I guess I shouldn't be surprised if it ends badly
