Icelandic Chickens

I still can't watch the HD video. Thanks HughesNet! I love how Fred just plows over the top of Wilma. Or was that vice versa?

I tossed two of the remaining three Lukka eggs. The veining was floating lose so there would be a blood ring soon. The third one looks like it was just a day maybe behind the others so I put it back under her. It was easy to do because she got up to eat the scrambled egg I took down to her. She's getting one everyday just like the last time she was broody.

I am gonna' go take some new pics of my Icelandic chicks. I bought some Chick Probiotic Boost and have added it to their water. These are some spunky chicks! I think I will always use this stuff. I have a stuffed animal in the brooder with them and they are climbing it like a jungle gym and jumping off.

Kelly is the baby standing better today?

Hi everyone, has anyone heard from Camelot Farms aka Kim lately? I've tried to contact her via PM here and also on her camelotcottage bakery website about possibly getting some fertile eggs from her but I've gotten no response to either. She hasn't posted here lately. Would anyone that has contact information for her please send me a PM?
Thanks, Susan

We move the turkey poults and tutors closer to the other coops and runs. The Icelandics had to come over and check things out. It was the first time I ever saw any of the poults display. We might have a pair of midget whites, if we do my wife wants to keep them for breeding more ( She just thinks it would stop me from getting larger turkeys for breeding, it's like she just met me).

The hens didn't pay nearly as much attention as the roo.

I love those hens... any hatching eggs in the future

Well, for myself and people I know in Ohio it will be 30 days starting Friday. We have a pen of mixed roosters some of the Icelandic hens fly into. Those roosters are scheduled for processing Friday. Out of state, I'm not certain when we'll do the NPIP cert. In Ohio the Ohio Poultry Assoc. performs the testing, we inquired in early spring and never heard back, so now we are waiting until our numbers are down as there are different rate scales based on the number of birds you have.
