Very nice! I'm no expert, but I'm counting 5 cockerels.
Me either, but that's what I see

Since there is no standard to breed to, I just pick the one that I like best and appeals to me. I'm sure that's the way it was done in Iceland! Just make sure you don't pick something with a general DQ (wry tail, crossbeak, droopy wing, etc.). Pick a strong healthy bird that you like the looks. I'd pick two and make a final selection when they are a bit older. I like to have a backup, probably why I have so many crowing roos around here.I'm going to have to find homes for 4 of them....and soon. How do I choose?
Quote: Going back and looking at the picture, the one that stands out to me is the boy facing the same direction as the girls. I always like that patch of red over the shoulders. It makes a very striking rooster.
Dang, I have GOT to take a picture of the new cockerel I'm growing out to take over my flock. He is gorgeous! DH even mentions all the time when he's trying to mention a particular pen............."you know, the one with the pretty rooster in it"..........and that was without me saying I was raising a "pretty rooster".
Of course I'll take a picture and I still can't upload to the site![]()
