Mary - love your festive avatar - sure beats the winter one. Today was supposed to be 50 - well sorta if you call 39 degrees being close. Raw and cloudy - icky.

Thanks, diva! I asked deb, perchiegirl, to make one for Easter and she did a great job!
Most of the snow we got on Monday has melted and the grass is starting to show a tint of green

we don't get any more! The flock was out digging around all over yesterday....I'll try and get a couple of pics after we get back from our suburb run.

@kathleens1979 , I don't know what your place is like but do you have cover for them to hide from aerial predators? I have lots of plants, bushes and trees that help provide cover for them.

On another note, some of you may have seen my post on the Easter Hatchalong thread but here it is again...
of the 13 eggs I set from my flock, only 4 are developing. Audun either has too many girls to cover (16 total) or he is aging out.

This makes me sad since he has been "The Man" for 4 years. I know he has been doing the deed but don't know if he is covering all the hens/pullets. I hope it is just that there are too many girls........

OH NO! I have not seen that post yet. I hope the 4 remaining hatch.

Oh, Mary! I feel kind of bad since you gave us Hann... But I have to say that Hann is our favorite rooster we've ever had. He makes happy noises when you feed him treats or really anything he thinks is delicious. I put out whey and he goes nuts.... It's the funniest thing!!! I will have to see if I can get a video of him and post it here. I promise you can have a cockerel from us anytime you would like it. I have 12 eggs set to hatch this weekend! I'll post some baby pics when they are out and fluffy. I will say we had a few duds too. About six got discarded at day 14. Hoping all 12 hatch!!!

Quote: Kathleen, I am so happy Hann is yours and I wouldn't have it any other way. I have four eggs from a friend's flock that are developing....there is sure to be a cockerel in that bunch and if you get eggs from Lyle, I'll be checking out what cockerels you'll be rehoming. In the mean time, I'll be hatching whatever I can from Audun and the girls.

I hope all 12 of your eggs hatch!!
