I made it down to the barn coop. I decided to clean the brooder while I was down there. I took each chick out to take it's picture then looked around for a place to put them so I didn't duplicate pics. I opened the plastic tub that holds the scratch and put them in there. It was almost empty anyway. They loved it!

Here they are. #2 and #10 are almost a chocolate brown color. The barn has fluorescent light so it really messes with the white balance on photos so the brown is hard to see in the pics. It stood out to me because I have not seen it before in my flock.

Last, but not least is my little poopy butt that I rescued stone cold, stiff and barely breathing. His little feathers are still too big for him to lift but he seems to be doing o.k. So o.k. in fact, that he was the last one to get his picture taken because he was the one running the fastest from the big scary hand in the brooder.

Oh my gosh, Cheryl, I am so sorry you have that mess to contend with. Hope all is rectified quickly for ya. I hope your dad is doing better and recovering well.

I love the pictures! Isi and Jokul are simply gorgeous! I want one! I need to get a good picture of the one really brown looking one I have. If the weather isn't too bad today (suppose to rain) maybe I can do that. Forecast says 65 with thunderstorms. That means my internet will likely go down, of course (and I will miss the end of my auctions LOL).

I hate when it rains here. It gets so darn muddy because there is just hardly no saturation at all. Rain doesn't saturate into rock very well.

I have been busy busy busy with much more to do around here, weekends are never dull with kids and pets, BUT I can't take the suspense so I am going to candle the Icelandic eggs in the incubator and see how they are doing

I'll let you know what I find...

Hey Kathy

Where do you live in Missoura?

I used to live in MacDonald Territory, back when the world was young.

Camelot I really like that pair, near perfect colors to me, I lean towards the light colors but actually like them all.

I live in Nevada, MO. That is Vernon county.

Here is my tuxedo - mottled girl.

Hi Andy

Thanks, my Hovabator has worked very well the last couple years that I used it, its been on a shelf the past year, had two hens broody so they raised the replacements last year. They are now improved hatchery stock, going to several 4H'ers.

The Icelandics are extremely varied in colors and combs but the size on the adults seems pretty uniform from what I see. That will be something to keep track of, I plan to keep my hens in pairs or singles. I have to build coops anyhow so am going with singles and pairs for the dozen or so that I want.
