Probably not, dont know when I will have the eggs, be fun though to watch the others on it.

Well, as I have mentioned before, I'm keeping Windur as my roo.

We have some friends down the street who want to start with chickens so they came and showed them what I feed.
They saw Jörðin, the little black rosecomb roo and I asked them if they'd like to learn by taking care of him and the 14 year old girl was excited, so I let her take him home. I know they will take good care of him.

So I have Windur and the two whitish girls to start with.... and then the eggs I'll hatch at Easter... I would love to get one of those Wheaten or Golden Duckwing looking roos that Kathy has, that would be so awesome.

Wow, those Alaska chicks are so gorgeous!

Jake you got is as bad as us and you haven't got your first Icelandic, I think we need to prearrange emergency care services for you when you do get them ....just in case you loose your mind completely!

Please pray for the Lord to send me a photographer! I called a gal who came over and took pictures only to tell me she had no idea how to upload them, and never heard of putting them on disk and promised to get prints from Walgreens! LOL I almost couldn't believe it! But she was so nice to come over anyway....I just have to remember to ask someone IF they can get them from the camera to the internet next time!

Didn't you say in an earlier post that you have "kids" working for you? TIme to start hitting up the help for some, er, help

Kids are nothing if not techie. My kids always have extras running with them, I just start taking a survey "Hey, which one of you wants to be my hero and fix this for me?" I usually get more than a few volunteers and then next thing I know, it's done!

I can't wait till my kids get home tonight. It's going to take more than two of us to get the little jumping beans to sit pretty for pictures. The only way I managed it the other day was to put them in a really deep tall box, which is why all the pics are of the top of their little heads

Thats a great idea, I actually tried that but I think I need to try a different approach, they volunteer but don't do anything, it takes a certain psychological approach to get young people to actually turn good intentions into real time actions and sometimes it is trial and error figuring out what approach works..... anyone with children or grandchildren can relate to this I'm sure, so I'll keep working on that!

I am really looking forward to these chicks ! Incubator numbers are right on, totes are ready, shavings in the bottom and heat lamp just waiting to be turned on. Waterers ready to be filled and chick starter on the shelf, all needed now is the eggs.

Wont need a lot of heat of after May first hatching, life will look good for the chicks.

Before the eggs get here will have the first outdoor brooder built, two 4' long by 2' wide by 4' high brooders, on legs. 3 sides all sides ply but the front, welded wire there, with a lightbulb on one end. One foot of ply on the ends of the face to enclose them a bit, and one foot lenthwise on the top edge over the wire, so the wire is just 6' by 3' opening.

Did I say I am anxious to get on with the Icelandics ???

The other chickens are going to get a later start, only the turkeys will be beating them here, so will go into early summer with the Icelandics and Wishard Turkeys. Hoping for lots of chipmunks with feathers and a couple little Lukkas in the bunch.

Keep those photos and posts coming !!!
