the only emus I ever met though were quite people friendly,

I never did figure out what they were grown for.

I LOVE it n wish I could be there to see the first JRT run with his tail between his leggs yiping to the owner.... but even funnier would be to get a video of the owner running from the Emu!

April is going to be a big hatch month from what I am reading !

Sounds great, if I get my eggs when I hope my hatches will be first week in May or shortly after. I am clicking off the days and reading about others little victorys

We have had some beautiful sunny spring days but night temps been in the single digits and below, and still got 4-5 inches of snow where it didnt drift. So spring isnt quite here yet, and I will feel better about eggs traveling in about 3 weeks.

REALLY looking forward to getting them ! All is ready to go here, chick starter on the ready, heat lamp ready, shavings in the totes, Hovabator ready, everything except the mailing weather.

Mary are emus dog chasers or what other purposes are they, besides interesting? Those chicks are a really beautiful pattern. The ones I met were pets, and followed us around their pen looking for goodies, but I'd hate to have one on my case without a .45 handy.

Arnt your donkeys on the lookout for the JRTs?? Ones I have had would kill a strange dog, and no questions asked, the Jack would anyhow, but the Jennet would give them a nasty bite. Got along fine with my dogs, but not strangers for sure.

I always have more if you need them. Maybe we need to plan a 'meet in the middle' and switch chicks this Spring.

Hopefully I'll have time to do a proper candle soon. Looked like a couple clears and some looked more advanced than others. I wonder if it's older eggs, younger hens? Closer to the edge of the box so cooler on the way up? Hmmm....

At any rate, one looks like the aircell is less than stellar but the detached airsacs in some of Mary's still hatched fine so we shall see.

He can barely walk, much less run. He can run his mouth however.

LOL Ohhhh Mary, you have the stray hen lead you to Icelandics, then you have the Farm.... now the Zoo, now the crazy neighbor, this is reminds me of a book, All things Wise and Wonderful, it was part of a series placed in England and a veterinarian was the main character, you are living the dream!
