I just love that blue and silver boy. I need to name him. Any ideas?

Ya know, that mottled boy (who also needs a name) has a split single comb, or split comb. I foget what it is called. It looks like a single, but there are like 2 of them.

The New Hampshire is a molting mess! These 2 were messin' with each other for over an hour. They never did touch each other.

The others were only a few feet away, and just ignored them.

Wow! A fury of feather action! We don't have mature roosters yet and don't plan on having any due to neighbors, otherwise we would have breeding pens built and a Sportsman fired up!

I got some chickens moved around today. My almost six week olds Icelandic chicks moved from the brooder in the garage to a grow out coop in the layer yard. I am not going to give them heat and hope they are ok. They have been off heat for a few days in the garage and the coop they are in is well made and not drafty. Here they are all standing around the ramp in the bottom. I turned on the red Christmas lights in the upper portion since they are used to red light. I am hoping that will encourage them to go up the ramp and not force me to go out and have to lay on my belly with the net and catch them and put them up. PLEASE.

I also moved the trio of Blue Isbars from quarantine on the side of the house to the yard and coop with the layer flock. Here is Bjorn strutting his stuff with Anna and Frida.

This is my favorite picture. They have been on concrete with shavings for six weeks so dirt must be a real treat!

Tonight I am moving the nine Isbar babies out to the garage. They are stinking my office up and I have only had them since Wednesday!

I think I'll go clean out the Icelandic coop and be done with that too! Then I'll crash and burn.

Kathy, I love the colors of the little hen in picture #6. Don't you hate it when you lose your camera? I just hate most point and shoots but when you get a good one it is priceless. I hate carrying my Rebel around but sometimes ya getta do what ya gotta do. Luckily my video camera is a tiny thing I can carry in my pocket. I am making a blog post about it tomorrow. That's how much I like it. Thanks for the pics. Good luck finding the camera.

OH, that's a GREAT idea with the red Christmas lights! I bet that will work, too! You are just so smart, aren't you? I bet they will be just fine with no heat. I am sure they will be fine, in fact. Rest assured now.

Bjorn, Anna and Frida are looking just great! I bet they really DO love that dirt! Did they take a dirt bath? Those chicks are gonna grow up quick too, and you will have a beautiful big flock of Isbars out there to enjoy. For some reason I thought Anna's name was Ida. I almost called her Ida.

Is it like a buttercup? You know you'll have to get a good pic of it now that you mentioned it!!

Agghh......names are hard...I used the list of Icelandic names for my older ones and the Icelandic dog names that Michelle posted the link to for my latest ones. I name them with the same letter according to when I got them: Ari, Audun, Anna and Asta, the originals from Mary, Kella, Kleo and Java Krystal were all the first brood from Chickie Mama 3/31 and 4/1 (and named with Ks because of Kella), Brynhildur, Branda, Bella and Bara are all born April, May or first part of June. I have D names picked for the girls from Anna's July 13/14 and Asta's July 30/31 broods. Looks like I have ten girls out of their 21 chicks. That will be a total of 18 Icelandic girls, 2 hens and 16 pullets from this year..........so far.

Yes, I asked you IF I should put eggs under Chickie Mama when she went broody and NO ONE stopped me.......
