Icelandic Chickens

Greybear, I feel for you on those back problems! They make life difficult. So glad that you have good help, though. Hopefully you can get some chicks raise! Sounds likes a nice pair of Icees you have there

Where are you in OK? I´m in Tulsa and I´m Icelandic and wanting some chickens. Would love to help keep the Icelandic bird alive! Wanting 3-6 pullets. I´m in the city so a roo is out of the question sadly. Otherwise I would breed them.
Hi and welcome to the group, I don't get on much, and I am down to just the one pair, you have a better chance of getting some eggs and hatching them and try to keep the pullets back, BUT, I will warn you, they are very addictive!!! LOL And from what I have seen, Icelandics seem to run long towards roosters, so getting some pullets or hens may be hard, they are almost worth their weight in Gold!!! LOL But I only live an hour from you just north of Stillwater, so give me a shout sometime! There are lots of Icelandic enablers on this thread, don't say I didn't warn you!!! LOL Have a great day, Lynn

This is a pic from last year of the cock I have left to breed this year!

Close up Head shot!

This is the hen!!!

Head shot, close up!!!

It is hard to tell but the rooster is Blue, his breast is a lighter blue with some lacing and his wings and tail do have blue in them, the light was not the best in the pics, sorry!!! Lynn

Not sure why they quit but it's ok... The ones that do hatch will be that much stronger ... survival of the fittest .. including surviving the post office
