Can u tell which 4 are icies?
One should never guess on Icelandics...you need to be sure.

I just get a txt from my neighbor. They were going somewhere at 4am and saw at least 3-4 racoons right next to my coop. Ugh! It isn't like I didn't know they were around but don't like the fact they were camped out by it. Is there anything I can do to dissuade them? I am thinking about setting my alarm for every few hours and going outside with the dogs but I obviously can't do that forever. Thoughts? Suggestions?
Never leave food (this could be a feed in a feeder/feed kicked from a feeder or scraps you gave the flock that they didn't eat) or water outside your coop at night. You don't want to give them a reason to be there.
Walk the dogs around the coop first thing in the morning and before bed and let them "mark" the area to discourage night visitors.
Make sure the coop is secure and there are no entry points.
Raccoons can manipulate things with their "hands" so make sure things cannot be opened by them.
State laws vary regarding trapping live animals and releasing them. Make sure you know what yours are before you post something here that someone might use against you.

Ah, good point. Thank you! The dogs and I just did our first round and when I opened the front door there was a fox just a few feet in front of the house. Maybe I need to get a trail cam!!

Viking Chickens vs. Wild Turkeys

Wish I had a photo, but I had a flock of wild turkeys pass through my yard while the chickens were free ranging. The Icies ran right up to one of the turkeys, who then proceeded to approach them sideways, wing flapping. My brave Viking chickens swiftly retreated. Wish I had a photo. I felt like I was in a performance of West Side Story!

I am on post 10416 so glad to see you still here Notafarm! Am going to have to read what happened to everyone and the emus! Proving to be a long read!

Finally got a photo of all of the chickens together. From the right they are Sid, Nancy, Jett and Roadie. Their colors have gotten much nicer as they have gotten older. Nancy is lighter with less grey than Roadie.
