Icelandic Chickens

AK this is an interesting trait, watch this one develop. I have two like this both from mu Lyle Behl birds, its definitely an Icelandic trait, both times it occurred in a hen, the adult feathers began to loose some substance as it matured, some feathers curled and when it layed eggs it lost a ton of breast feathers and the breast took on a "fluffy" look.
I keep some of these eggs because as strange as it may be it is authentic Icelandic and might one day lead to tracing back heritage or something!

That egg might be from some of mine that came from Marty from the Lyle Behl line. She described it as the feathers curly out and not being flat to the body. I have had a couple that I thought had it but I sent her pictures and she said that it wasn't the same. One was my dark baby with the "angel wings" which have completely corrected now. I can't tell him from the others now.

Interesting.

Ok, just checked them again, they are mostly still damp so leaving them all in the bator, I have divided baskets to keep them safe and seperated. As of now I only have a few hatched but this is what I have, Notafarm Icelandics-1 out of 11, Kathyinmo Icelandics-6 out of 14(one of which was cracked early), 2 game chicks, two Austrlorps and one ???, so we will see in the morning what we have. Kathy its never a matter of too many Icelandics, its just a matter of not enough space! You could release about 50 at the dead end of a logging road in a state park and start a wild flock........ hmmmmmm its a Twilight Zone experience, the taking over of the world by Icelandic chickens...... I like it, I really like it! I know Kathy, its time for me to get some sleep again !

It would be hard for ALL ROOSTERS to propagate. Oh wait, I forgot, your roosters are close to laying, right?

I can not get over how cute these little guys are. I had a heck of a time getting pics as I was home alone and the little buggers were jumping out of the basket. They are fearless!

I have 8 chipmunks and no 2 are the same shade.

The other 6 are white. Here are the Fab 5

Here's another long-haired-hippy-chick. Can you see the curls around the nape of her neck?
