What a beautiful girl! My little granddaughter, 9 months today, is a Katie (shortened Katelyn)! I so happy to hear everything went well.

Actually Sommer came across a banty hen with a pretty pattern, and got the idea. Since then, we've been breeding to increase size and production (and temperment). I mostly work on outcrossing, Sommer on breeding those offspring back into the stock. When she culls a generation, I take in the best retirees, just in case something happens over in her flock. We have a few helpers, but mostly just people who want free culls

CONGRATS!!!! to Shawn and his family. Katie looks so precious.
Mary, I hope your emu gets on the road to recovery really soon.
To everyone one else your baby chicks are so cute. I still am at awe how you can get them to stand still long enough to get the picture.

Laree you have an interesting project there. I am going for a winterhardy chicken, so far none of these have leg feathering, that is one trait I do want. But these all seemed to have had ancestors that did without, still, I think it would be a good trait to have up here. Have you considered possibly any of the asiatic breeds or Pacific Islander breeds?

Skjotur besides his crest is also developing a beautiful cape over the patterned back, and he is still speedy. Two of the other former chipmunks I feel pretty sure are pullets, without handling them. Tails are level to downward pointing, arnt as upstanding as Speedy and the dark chick. The little white one , the dark chick and Speedy all apear to have very nice rose combs, the others I dont know yet.
