Icelandic Chickens

I'm guessing 28.

These little Icelandics fly EVERYWHERE.

I'm going to need to out a huge fly over the north part of the backyard or they will be all over my neighborhood.

You guys are really putting the pressure on me with all these high numbers! Can't somebody help a girl out and guess 15? Sheesh!

I got all the votes cast. I think my blog host is having issues with the anti-spam system. I'll research that later tonight. I put you down for 18 Andy. In the event of a tie a winner will be chosen at random.

These little cardinals hatched just outside the window of the prayer room at the Coffee House. I don't know what was more thrilling watching them hatch or watching them leave the nest, but I was thankful to get a good photo!

Andy, the photo isn't showing!!
I don't know about skin coloration, I haven't really looked to check closely, but I have different colored shanks on my Icelandics.

Mary, I'll guess 17, an odd number in honor of all the odd egg shipments, sets, etc!!

Kathy, You keep things safe the same way I do! It'll turn up when you're NOT looking for it!

My broody SLW now only has three eggs left (started with 10) and, as of yesterday, no chicks. I'm thinking the hatch is a bust. The eggs were all from Asta at a time when Anna was broody and I took Ari out of the coop and put Audun in. Maybe none of the eggs were fertile, I never candled them........I'll leave them until Monday...then remove anything left and check them.

I like your candler Shawn, even I can make that !

My five lighter chicks all have the white skin, the dark one has black shanks, I will need to check him close to see the skin color. In a 3' long dog crate any of them can make a hop with a wing flap from one end to the other. Can hardly wait to see them out in the Chicken House. Its original use was a smoke house .

All four chipmunks have developed into earth tone browns with capes of lighter gold touches, they are really beautiful, Skjotur has his dark crest and a developing lighter cape. He is still Speedy for sure. The white roo may be developing some tones of color here and there, hard to tell yet.

Gumps Chocolates have some white chocolates too!

OMG! I was collecting eggs from the Icelandic coop last evening and found this! The big egg is next to a large egg for comparison. I am collecting eggs for Henhouse Bob but I don't think I'll send him this one. Could be a double or triple yolker even though I have only had one double yolk Icelandic egg. I see a big ole omelet on my breakfast plate!

On a relieved note, I don't see any pips in the Jake hatch. I was most worried about an early hatch since I am shipping them. They have to hatch, ship, and arrive at their destination while still in the 3 day yolk survival period. That being said, now I am worried that none will hatch since I don't have the usual early birds! Can't win.

Oh, and as I left the house this morning to go down and let the animals out, Stella strolled out from under the house and walked down with me!

At least she is street smart and knows to hide under the house when she misses curfew. I'd say she is grounded but we all know that won't work.
