Icelandic Chickens

It's the music, for heaven's sake! She's got it goin' on! I think she is looking for a dance partner.

I was worried about some inner ear infection or something. Do chickens even have inner ears? Anyway, this goes on all day everyday. I mentioned it to DH who sort of poo-pooed it, then I took the baby out of the brooder and put it in my desk and it started twirling. He couldn't believe it. He moved his finger over it in a circular motion and it kept up with his speed. Crazy!

Everyone is alive today... YEA!! There are a couple that are still acting a little lethargic but hopefully will pull through.. One of them is the tiniest one-- very cute but not really active. Most of them are running around like I would expect them to be so things are looking good!!

Very cool dancing chick Mary... You need to practice with it everyday so that in a few months you can go on America's got Talent!!

Hmmmm, well now you have me wondering about that possibility. Does it peep much? I am thinking with an ear infection it would hurt and she would peep all the time, too.

No peeping, just dancing!

I have some newly hatched Icelandic chicks. 3 are chipmunky, alot are black, and a couple yellow. I think there is another buff one too. Since I did not have orders to fill with this hatch, I did not mark anyone and just put them in the brooder bin. Ummmm, now I am not sure who is who.

I can check the combs on some and tell.

I hatched a new sorta chipmunk color. It has the eye liner, but the coloring is more solid than chipmunkish. It also has some blue down, which I have never seen before. Can you see the blue in the wings, in the second picture?

Here are the other 3 chipmunk chicks. The first one has lightly feathered shanks.
