Icelandic Chickens

The owner who donated them is keeping them in the brooder tonight. I will pick them up in the morning, when we are all packing to go.

OMG, I can not believe you posted that picture, Mary. My ugly mug on a public forum?

Chickielady I asked if you "Bagged bambi," not banged - banged sounds so pornographic. Besides in the movie bambi was a boy wasn't he. No wonder he grew up with problems. Kinda like a boy named sue.

Hi Kathy

You got someone off to a great start with those !!

The movie Bambi probably caused the greatest harm to American deer as anything that had ever befallen them.

Within 3 years of the movies release most states had issued deer hunting bans, over the next five years the population skyrocketed, massively overpopulating and literally causing widespread starvation in them. In addition some national forests like the Kaibab in Az were overgrazed to the extent that the the starving deer stripped trees of bark and branches up to 7' high and resulting im massive tree dieoffs along with the deer dieoffs in the winters.

Consequently saner minds did prevail and deer hunting was resumed, slowly in most states and eventually all.

So that is one of the few Disney feature cartoons I dont care for, great characterizations, but incredibly bad for the real animals in real life.

Jake Ditto for the DisneyMovie "101 Dalmatians," too many people bought puppies that didn't fit their lifestle and too many people breeding them to cash in on the popularity. Also "The Lady and the Tramp," causing mayhem for Cocker Spaniels. Now I'm trying to think if Disney movies ever really benefitted animals. I suppose everyone wants a special needs Dolphin in their pool.

Boy so true !!

I wish that Walt had stayed with Steamboat Willy and Mickey.

There is a long list of animals that have sufferred after disney popularity.

Ironically, they put out a short series of True Life presentations of real American wildlife that they have never rereleased, Olympic Elk is one, Bears, and others, I think it was seven in all. Up to their time the greatest wildlife photography I had ever seen and even since on most. But they never released them again. Tragic actually. This was back in the 50s. I would buy everyone they'd release a DVD on ! Beautifully photographed, narrated and sound tracked.
