Icelandic Chickens

Jake I am embarrassed to admit that I backed out of the emu trade. I may change my mind but as the time drew close I just couldn't bear the thought of not having Stuart around.

I know how that can happen, been there, just not with emus.

Here are a few updated pictures of Dreki (July 13. 2011 hatch-Audun/Anna or Asta). He is quite the looker and I can't get over how many shades of blue he is getting in his tail! I just wish he was crested.

Yeah I haven't even plugged in the Farm Master, it is bigger than my gQf (shown above pic) and I cannot see hand turning that many eggs.
But I also have a bunch of plastic turners I could put in it, but so far the cabinet gQf works so good..why bother?
I really like the clear plex door so I can see the dates I have written when I set the eggs..and I love the 5 gallon bucket attachment that keeps water in it forever.
Every 2 weeks or so, I open it, unplug the water feed tube, and wash or & sterilize the water pan with bleach solution..and replace.
It works fantastic.
The other cool thing is the back up wafer in it.
If one fails, the other takes over.
Wafers are cheap, available everywhere at all feed stores, are universal, and easy to repair & install.
Whereas the digital stuff..who knows what can go wrong with that stuff???
I have no idea what to do with the Farm Master....FiL used it for the Emu Eggs...it has no 'cups' as Emu eggs laid in there on their sides...it has no turner.
It needs to be with an emu or maybe goose breeder.
I think?

Thanks Kathy and Chickielady!

I go a little crazy taking pics so I hope no one minds me posting a bunch of them!!

Here is the pullet that hatched from eggs Mary sent me this year (hatched June 10, 2011). Her name is Bara and I think she's gorgeous!!

Here is beautiful Drottning. Hatchmate to Dreki.

Here my original two hens from Mary (hatched May '10). Anna is still getting her new feathers and is stunning. Asta finished her molt much quicker than Anna and is a shade darker than last year.

Your roo looks like the one that I had caught, but escaped. Same coloring I think, but he have a crest, and single comb. Hope to have him soon with 2 other roos and a pullet.

Okay....last group!!

Here is "the old man" Audun.......not so old at 20 months....but he's the senior guy here!!
He is still getting his plumage back from molting....this pic shows his crest coming in.

Here are three of his offspring hatched September 22 (not sure of whose eggs these are from).
Yes....I see the combs/wattles on the two front ones....what do you think about the third one?! Girl?
