Icelandic Chickens

So, I sold my BLRW Cockerel 'cus I'm getting the Icees. I am soooo excited!

You see, my screen name "Totalcolour", it's because I love colour! So now, I only have to have one breed (sorry, landrace) and they come in all colours, and featherlegged/non, crested/non and so forth.

Actually, I'm keeping a couple of EE's and a Blue Copper Marans, so my customers will get the coloured eggs.

Life is good.

BTW, I know they aren't APA, but is there a sort of registry, or record of them in this country, just to keep track and make sure there are no wicked people passing off mutts as Icees? Maybe, breeders of repute or something?

What color of cars??? Oh wait, an Emu? My yard is a little small for one. I like them. Now don't hate me, but, when we lived in Louisville Ky there was a petting zoo there. An exotic petting zoo, and they had the emus running around. We would feed them crackers (I know not the healthiest) and they loved to snatch them right out of your hand. One time while we were there, my then 2 yr old son was approached by a baby (not small) camel. I will have to try and find the picture.....Ok I looked for the picture and could not find it....so you will have to imagine.

The Ices here are knocking out 3 a day, and expecting that to pick up, next week will need that many for the eve snacks for the Fab Feathered Three ! And an occasional omelette for me !

We are back to winter here, teens at night , 9 this morn and days in mid 20s. But, April is coming.

Life is good, and better with Icelandic Chickens !

Is Mary shipping the babies? Did she ship already - did you pick them up? . . . how. . .?

(So, do Icees lay well in winter, sounds like you are getting better than me and I have 22 hens/pullets and only 3 eggs per week, but non Icees, just plain ole regular birds. How many do you have then?

Boston has 11 hens/pullets and in 11 days he says he'll get 70 eggs. Yes, Icelandics lay well.... and it was below freezing there all day today!

Quite often that is the case. We are still working on it. And we have that wonderful puppy to play with

And, we got married a couple weeks ago so that took just a little time and planning. Now I'm almost done getting all the paperwork done for my name change (who knew there were so many people who actually cared what your legal name is?) and DH just informed me we don't have enough chickens

so I'm working out the broody logistics.

Oh, and I hear Christmas is coming...
