Icelandic Chickens

Thank you CL. And for letting me know that these birds were from Mary - I'm assuming Sheriff Mary? So good provenance then.

I shall be deleting all white egg layers from my flock so there will be no contamination.

It is hard parting with Nanky Pooh my BLRW, (Gilbert and Sullivan's "Mikado") he is really gorgeous and gentle. But, he's going to a good home later today, where he will have a flock of purebreds of his own breed.

Can't wait for Thursday.

Thanks everyone for the congratulations. He's a wonderful man, we've made a beautiful home together and he's appalled that we only have 20 chickens

so a-hatching-we-will-go. We've joined the NYD Hatch-a-long and since I will be out of state, he will be seeing the broodies get their eggs on time.

Ref to winterlaying I have had ten eggs in 3 days. It is getting light at 730, and now at 3 pm the sun is dropping behind the nearest mtn and by 4 it will be pitch black, so in those 20some days I will be ready to see the days getting longer. I am expecting that as the day lengths increase so will the egg production.

Life is good, and better with Icelandic Chickens !
