Icelandic Chickens

Good luck Mahonri. If everyone who said a little prayer for the fabulous feathered babies says one for you, you'll be just fine! I'm in!

Kathy are you hatching for NYD? If so, what? I got a little anxious and candled my Swedish Flower Hen eggs (

) and one is veining! I didn't take them out of the tray, just held the flashlight to them. Hopefully in a couple of days I'll see more, cuz you know the the one that's veining is a roo!

If they can survive HELL (aka Arizona), they can survive Florida. Iceland is a temperate climate, so I'm sure they would do wonderfully there.

We get pretty hot here (summers can have 115) but we don't have the humidity. I waited through Mary's first year with them to make sure they could take the heat before adding any to my flock.

If you do try some in FL and they do well please let me know. I have been thinking about getting some of these cuties since I first saw the thread start up. I just love crested chickens and they are so cool with thier varied genetics. I am in NE FL so our winters get pretty cool but not much under freezing but the summers get up in the upper 90's with lots of humidity because I am right on the coast but we get a little breeze sometimes.

March 12th or 13th at the very latest... depending on where they are coming from.

All right!! Marking "ship Mahonri eggs" on March 12th. They're slowing the delivery standard down, so better give them the extra day. I should be able to get enough over the weekend to send you a dozen..........unless everyone is broody.........which we know is a possibility!!!!!!

yeah, I know, I check in at the hospital for my knee surgery at 8AM, surgery from 9-10:15 or so and then out of recovery and on my way home by about 11:30AM... then DW leaves me to go to Utah to pickup DS #3 who finished his last final today (in his freshman year of college) She'll be back by Saturday night. I HOPE!

You too?
I just narrowly avoided it for the second time..........whew!!
But I am still in a brace, and on the ice & mud it is not easy.
Nonethe less I am pushing myself to get back to normal...tore all the ACLs, but for a few shreds, and the inner ligaments of the left knee.
basically like someone was on the ground, and reached out & grabbed ahold of my ankle, and pulled hard, while shoving on the thigh.
I landed on my inner knee so hard gravel was stuck in my flesh..and lower leg sticking out sidesways..suddenly veru short...........then the pain hit.
Classic football injury!
You too??
