Mrs Fluffy I don't have all the answers for you but can tell you about mine, maybe someone else can chime in ,apparently your post has been overlooked, sorry. Mine stared laying this winte. They seem to be weather moody,if it changes they slow or stop for a day or two! But as long as it stays the same, either hot or cold they lay real good. Their eggs are good medium size and white orbjust a little off white. From what i'v read they do go broody so that may be a problem if your wanting just egg production. They are very interesting birds. Mine act a little different than other chickens, just more curious, love to roam, stay ib a group good. You should give them a try. Can anyone else who has had them longer than me give her any more info?I have been following this thread for almost as long as it's been here. Anyway, I love how these chickens are good free rangers and can find alot of their own food. I do have a question though, how would they do in the Texas heat? Last summer we had days that were 117 degrees. Most of the summer days are over 100 degrees, how would they fare in this type of climat? I would like a white egg layer to add to my layer flock, but if I really liked them then I would probably set up a breeding pen for them. How good of a layer are they? Do they lay good in the dead of winter/summer? Thanks so much for your help.
