Maybe you should play classical music or foreign language tapes to them - so they will hatch out to be smarter than the average Emu. I've never met an emu but, I am sure they are not dumber than dumb rocks - as some people say. They probably would benefit from early emu education. Then you could pit them against Mary's and see which ones get the highest Mensa scores.

But, I'm in Missouri...... country music or gospel. Those are the only choices on radio here. I'm not buying them any tapes. There are no "smarter than average," anything in Missouri.

Those videos of Mary's..... well, I think they have a natural instinct to dance the ?????? (what IS that dance they do?)

Just got home from work.
WOW are they moving and dancing this morning! I mean REALLY jumpin' around in there! My whistler is pretty good this morning, and they are responding.

COME ON EMU BABIES ! ! ! !

Something to do while waiting for the emu hatch..........here is White Java pullet Krystal with her five Icelandic chicks, they are two weeks old now. The two dark ones on the right blend into the hay bale and one is hiding it's head under momma but all five are there.

Right now I'm thinking hoping 2 pullets....

the blonde and the brownie on the far right....more by their cautious personalities than anything else....I was so hoping the "unique" one (only butt showing in the pic) was a pullet but it has a single comb and it looks quite distinct already. I have had more pullets with single combs than cockerels though so we'll see. I'll try and get better pics this weekend and Kelly can tell me for sure what I have!

Bright side.......going to meet joyous later this morning with 44 Icelandic eggs!!
