Icelandic Chickens

Lynn what do Iowa Blues look like?
There's a big variety right now, but we're working on it.

SIlver Penciled type pullet

Birchen type pullet

Birchen type cockerel

Silver penciled type cockerel

It's an interesting project. We started with stock from 3 different hatcheries but when we cross them we get all kinds of things. Of course no one knows what they really looked like originally.

I hatched one Iowa Blue chick for the Easter hatch egg swap. I believe it's a pullet and I believe it will be birchen. I'll have to take a picture and post it on the IB thread.

I have lots of breeds of chickens, but I also have about six breeds with only one. Not a lot of directions you can go from there.

On a cheerier note, last night I finally got my first two serama eggs to hatch (one more pipped and one more zipping). I've tried shipped eggs three times, the first two were wash outs, the third is scheduled to lock down Tues. around 50% of what was set. The first two chicks out are so tiny and those both appear to be blue. I LIKE blue chickens!

Dar get well, and on your tour or after try to go down to Hebron, the First Capital of Israel where King Davids father is buried, along with Abraham and his sons. An incredible place.

Still on the countdown for the move, but , may be going in June to try and beat some of the July 4th traffic.
Life is good, and better with Icelandic Chickens !
