Icelandic Chickens

I've decided I need to schedule a vacation after my vacation to recuperate. My girls were slave drivers last week.

7AM to 5PM Tue-Friday and 7AM to Noon on Saturday. Too much to do and too little time.

My NYD Icelandics are now my best layers... I get about 4 a day from the 7 of them.... but I do have the one SFH in there so it might be laying as well.

My AC unit is out in the big coop so all I can do is pray at this point in time, I don't have time to put another one in and it doesn't look promising.

I'll be in Salt Lake on Wednesday for the wedding so I hope the neighbor boy I've hired will put some ice in the coops.

C'mon September.

WOW, your lows are around my highs, your highs are out of this world. I hope everyone makes it through it.

OMG! My first six Icelandics are hatching a day early!

I am a nervous, excited mess! I only these 6 eggs and 2 more set to hatch next Thursday! And they are in a Chinese incubator!

I needed to add water and since they weren't due until late
tomorrow I opened the lid. They were cheeping and one was pipped! I shined my flashlight over them and all but one have pipped the membrane. Humidity is only 52% now so I may open it one more time then leave it alone no matter what! I have one pip in my Isbar incubator but I have a tube and syringe to add water to that one. Mean Mary wishes the Icelandic's were in that one. Nice Mary is glad the Isbars are in there because a guy paid a lot of money for those chicks. Me Mary knows I'll be sleeping down here in my office tonight clutching a flashlight!

Good luck with both hatches!

What a lousy night I started having. Went to lock up the barn coop and found that Lukka is missing. Haven't had an egg from her in two weeks. Makes me think she squirreled some away in the pasture and she is sitting. I searched everywhere until it got too dark to see. By that time one of the emus had already fallen asleep in the pasture and I couldn't get him in the pen. I woke him up and followed him around. he is in a trance and doesn't even respond. I had to leave him out there and I am worried sick for both him and Lukka. Jack and Diana wouldn't come to the barn either and when I approached them in the dark they ran. They still have there fly masks on from this morning. This is going to be a long night.

Lord have mercy it was HOT today! I helped neighbor Nikki with her garage sale which she had at my house. Too difficult for cars to turn around at her house. We were out by the road in our little orchard under the fruit trees. She did pretty well for such a hot day and the day before Father's Day. Stuart and Louis were so nosey they wouldn't leave the fence all day. Poor babies were so hot. We kept hosing them down and I took a bucket of water out to them. The girls were smarter and stayed in the shade unless something very interesting was happening.

Tomorrow I am taking a day of rest as much as I can. I really need it. Michael will be with his daughters most of the late afternoon and evening. My sister and I celebrated Father's Dy with our Dad on Friday. If I had bon-bons I could lay on the couch and eat them all day.
You mean you ate all the chocolate I sent you? (dang... I thought for sure that was a year's supply...)
