Does anyone have any fertile Icelandic chicken eggs? I have a broody hen and i would like to get some eggs ASAP and see if she can hatch them. I only want Icelandic.

Thanks!

What the heck is an Icelandic chicken?? (Other than the obvious, a chicken from Iceland

)

What special traits does it have and where did you hear about them?

Bingo, they are a chicken brought over from Iceland in 2003. I have one and want to breed them.

I have a trio of Icelanics that I am working with now. I have eggs in the incubator. The birds are pure Icelandic, but I had the flock mixed for about a month. I seperated them about 1 week ago, so it might take some time to get back to pure. I'm not really sure how long this process takes.

Most say that you need 3 weeks separated from the other breeds to get back to pure. However, I've had fertile eggs from my hens for as long as 6 weeks after the only roo got eaten by a fox. So I'd wait at least that long before I was comfortable with them being pure. 2 months to be certain.
