Iconoclasm

The one male was eaten recently because he was really slowing down. That's OK. It's normally recommended to not attempt to grow the males to breeding age.

However, guess who's waaaay out in the cow pasture? That's right, the three female Cornish Cross are really foraging! By my calculation, they are 81 days old today.

Today, the Cornish Cross really got into their dust bath! Hope they enjoyed it!

They shook out the dirt afterwards and became white again.

The three Cornish Cross girls have a Barred Rock boyfriend!

They’re not squatting or laying eggs yet, but since they’ve made it this far, I wanted to give them a chance to think about future little fuzzies!

The Cornish Cross girls are using a short ladder and are roosting off the ground like chickens are supposed to do.

The three Cornish Cross pullets have been let go in the chicken yard because of a housing shortage regarding some other chickens. The Barred Rock rooster has an efficiency apartment of his own at the moment.

The Cornish Cross pullets are obese but still walking and moving around. They eat a LOT, and the concept of winner, winner, chicken dinner has been widely discussed.

No eggs yet, but if one lays an egg, even the notorious first useless double yolkers from CX, I would be thrilled.
