Niki (monarc23) has a post somewhere on sexing that shows what the differences in the vents are. So they don't necessarily have to be 'in season' to sex them. If you can hold onto them good enough

and since I'm such a noob at quail, I think I'll try the do-they-make-foam? vent sexing, just because it sounds easier.
