I'd love to have a hatching buddy?

What breeds do you use for your Rhodebars?
I believe the linage comes from Rhode Island Reds and Barred Rocks. Don't ask me how though because I have no idea. From what I know crossing a RIR with a BR will outcome a black sex link. All I know are Rhodebars are beautiful, prolific layers, and auto sexing :)

Okay, thank you, I want to hatch some rhodebars out this spring, and don't know exact parentages.

That is exactly what my new baby is ;) Daddy is a Barred Rock and mommy is a RIR. It's all black, with a yellow dot on her head.

Well, I did what I didn't want to do. My Brody is no longer Brody. I've gone out there three times and she's off her last egg. I hope the incubator can save it. It was cold when I picked it up.

It's supposed to hatch anyday.

I'm sure you'll be able to find hatching eggs for sale here on BYC, they're a newer breed to the USA so they aren't available at hatcheries yet, and even if they were I'm sure they'd be charging a killing for them. It's best to buy eggs or chicks from a reputable breeder. I got mine from a breeder in PA

The chick will grow out to be barred like it's daddy. If it were a RIR Male cross with a BR female you would've gotten a black sex link :) and I hope you can save the egg! Fingers crossed
