Idaho?

Today should start the countdown to my chicks being shipped! 21 days to the 20th! I am very excited. Can you tell? Actually they probably put the eggs in the incubator yesterday since they say they will ship on the 20th.. I think thats how it works. lol who knows. Not me for sure!

I was pretty sure I had two hens... I am now thinking (but I don't want to) that I have a hen and a rooster... please help?

7 - 7 1/2 weeks old (both of them)

SLW

Marsala (possible rooster?)

Gracie

Marsala, sorry the one in question isnt that clear of photos. Hoping to get some better ones this week. But *her* tail feathers are just completely different... She is a bit bigger and taller than Gracie now... Neither have waddle or comb growth yet though.

I lost another chick. It was lovely outside yesterday and then it snowed and neither chick went into the shelter. Star is all alone again. I feel so horrible because the other chick was still warm when I found her. I must have been only moments too late to get them inside.

So how hard would it be to integrate a 6 week old chick with a younger flock? She's very laid back if that helps.

The way I integrated my younger Australorps was to put a box in the run that had food and water in it. Then I put two holes in it that only the younger girls could fit through. That way if the bigger girls got after them, they could run into the box and get away. It only took a week or so and they were all friends and I could take the box out.

X2 ;)

Anyone?? Anyone??

Sorry I saw BBC and was not sure what that was, if it is BCM you are after, there are others with way more knowledge of those than myself on here, I know mine were decent layers until they got fat this spring and stopped for awhile. They lay big eggs, pretty dark ones, and are very cold hardy though. I had no frostbite on my marans combs at all this winter. And it was cold. They were out running around in the bad weather, moreso than several of my other breeds.
