Idea for Keeping Chickens Off the Furniture!

Ah, so it's kinda like a 'She-Shed'.... with chickens!? :D
I knew what you meant about the bottles, and it will probably work.
After they try a few times and fail,
hopefully no injuries will occur during that learning curve.
Did you use a permanent 'glue' or are the bottles expendable?

Right. My birds are Black Sumatras- which are great fliers. So much so that the run will have a couple of "perches" extending from the center support posts.
I haven't glued anything down just yet. Do you have a glue in mind? All of those items were picked up at thrift for between 50 cents and $1.50. A couple of them are almost too pretty to imagine broken so- I'd prefer a glue option I could twist or pry the bottle up from with good force and not break it. Just looking for something strong enough to keep them tacked down when they are struck sideways and overhead by flying chickens.

If you want bottles up there and have the time and inclination to dust them (or maybe don't mind dust and cobwebs and stray feathers getting on them) then who am I to say you shouldn't give them a go.

Don't be so sure you won't get someone roosting there, though. I once found one of my bantam roosting on the tip-top of the handle of a broom that I had left wedged upright in the coop.

It might sound crazy- but I do dust my coop about once a month to once every three months! And I would have wiped down some items in my old coop back home, except that it was unpainted rough plywood and wouldn't take wiping.
That's pretty funny about a bantam on a broomstick! That's actually got a nice ring to it.... Bantam on a Broomstick :caf

Boy, I don't know...maybe a low heat hot glue...just 2-3 dabs around edge of base of bottle....and it could probably be removed with a heat gun on low or a hairdryer on high, maybe?
I'd experiment on scraps before doing the real thing.

Hi Everyone!
I thought I should follow up with how we ended up roost-proofing the nesting hutch. We tacked some poultry netting to the roof support and it hangs down pretty well. It got a little ratty on the one end near the light, but manages to not be an eyesore in the coop so far! I'm looking for a way to replace those bricks. (didn't want to nail it to the nesting hutch as I like to get behind it for decorating and cleaning.) But for now, the bricks work!

*The unpainted wood pieces were added as removable chocks to keep nesting bedding in the nests. I will be painting those before the girls start laying.
