Hello,

I visited my brother yesterday, and I noticed one of his birds (there are six) had a poopy butt. I didn't inspect the rest, I just noticed as its rear end was facing towards me. Is this a sign of something, or should I just go back over there and clean it up? I'm guessing that would be done with warm water and a washcloth. When I had them as chicks, I had to clean poopy butt on one of them, but I could just hold it in my hand then. It's grown up now. I guess I'd need to get a tub big enough to hold the chicken.

I'd take a look at the whole group to see if it's just the one bird or if there's something else going on.

How much poop was there? Was it just normal looking poop build up or was something off about the appearance?

Assuming it's just normal poop build up my preference is to trim off soiled feathers rather than wash as that will give you a longer lasting result, vs washing which just removes what's there and doesn't prevent more build up later.
