Ideal Crested Special!

I've had experience with Polish and Sultan fowl before. Hold on...

1. Gold laced for sure
2. Pretty sure that's a white crested black
3. Hmm...also pretty sure that's a white crested blue
4. 99.9% sure that's a sultan. They have almost no crest at a young age and are yellow. How many toes? Five: 100% Sultan. 4: Polish.
5. Yep, I'm GUESSING crevecoeur because of the lack of visible crest present. May have to wait.

As far as gender goes, you'll be able to make guesses when the crest fills up, and you could start watching for domineering chicks and dispositions in the next month or so. Polish roos can get nasty. We know from experience, but Sultans are unbelievable. We had a Sultan roo who I could hug and kiss and he was just the sweetest thing. He recently passed away, so he's still sorely missed.

Good luck. The EEs look cute.

My gold laced chick died for no reason. I really think it was too stupid to get enough food...I was so sad when I found her body.

I am pretty sure the gray looking Polish is a rooster, it's growing a very red horn like comb that looks so ridiculous! The white crested black has a poofy wide crest like a female, but in the past week it's grown red wattles...no comb. Confusing. The Sultan has a very tiny red comb starting, but it is so sweet and it makes the softest peeps. I hope if it's a roo it never crows. (Wishful thinking...) The Crevecoeur has no comb and is growing a little poof. I LOVE that chick, I so hope it stays pullet-like lol.

My two EE suspect roos I am still unsure about. The brownish one doesn't have a red comb really, but it's HUGE. It towers above the other birds! The body screams rooster to me. The black one is now pretty much the same size as the other pullets, and the comb seems to have stopped growing though it does have one ridge in the middle that is more pink/red than the others. I guess I will just have to keep waiting to see who lays an egg and who crows. The only downside is by then we'll have fallen in love with them even more and it will be harder to part with a roo.

I'll take new pictures of them soon!

Do they crow really loudly?

I will have so much trouble parting with that sweet little chick if it decides to go roo on me.

I can't ever spell the breed name right, haha. No matter how hard I try I keep getting it wrong!

I really want to get more of them! Do yours lay well at all? I read that they were poor layers, so I don't want to get a bunch of them and never get any eggs...though it is tempting because they are so cute and sweet. I have a slight obsession with crested breeds developing...
