I don't think the dead birds you found had Marek's. It's evidently rare in those types of birds. Turkeys and waterfowl have forms of the disease that are specific to them and aren't transmittable to chickens. But Marek's is so prevalent in chicken populations that your Sebrights will probably be at risk. On the other hand, if your existing flock is clean, and you're careful about what else you bring in, your new chicks should be fine. I didn't get Marek's in my barn until I ignorantly adopted a lame hen from an acquaintance, and it turned out to be Marek's. It's been 7 years since that time and all my flock is either vaccinated, or genetically resistant to the disease. Those that weren't all died of Marek's or had to be euthanized.

My Ideal order was all vaccinated, thankfully. I stressed it and reminded the customer service person an extra time before I hung up after placing the order. It was on the credit card charge so I knew they wouldn't forget.

My chicks are doing really well now at 3 weeks. Only the 1 chick had ET, thank heavens. As soon as these peeps are fully fledged they'll go to the nursery coop in the barn.

There should be a little V under the "services" heading on the left column of the invoice, for each separate breed you order. Mine had the V highlighted in pink highlight marker so it was easy to notice. Also, if you weren't charged the extra cost of each vaccination, then your chicks weren't vaccinated. That's a shame. I learned that it pays to be an annoying nag and keep reminding the person who's taking my order!

I got my first order from them this morning & I've been super happy with the service. They called when they didn't have one I selected avaliable & offered substitutions or waiting until they were available . They answered all my questions & were friendly & courteous. 1 Of the 15 chicks is a little lathargic, but drinking & eating, I'm taking it as a good sign! We've only ever bought chicks from TSC before, so this was kind of a maiden voyage for. So far so good! I'm sure we'll be ordering from them again!

please excuse spelling/typos, my smart phone does stupid stuff when I try to comment on these forums..

I ordered chick's to be shipped on June 19th. On arrival there was 1 dead in the box. About 5 days later they started dying 1 after another. Today is July 2nd and we are down to 5 of the original 12. Called Ideal when I got back from the PO to let them know of the first DOA. Called again today to explain they were dying by the day. I was told the supervisor wasn't there and they would have to call me back. I guess we'll see what happens. This isn't our first rodeo with chick's and the chick's I have from another hatchery and from another breeder are all doing fine. Everyone is and has been separated from the start. It's only the Ideal chick's that are having problems. I guess I'll see if they call back today.

Ours are all still doing great as well! Watching them all grow has been so fun! I ordered a crazy mix so we have no idea what is going to turn into what, lol! I had a couple calls from/to the company in regards to my order and the girls I spoke to were totally friendly and professional. After that, iI looked them up online and was surprised to see the staff I spoke to! I was expecting a huge company with so many employees you'd never talk to the same person twice, and that isn't the case here! We will be repeat customers for sure .
