Ideal Poultry's Bantams...

Out of all the Bantam breeds that Ideal Poultry Raises which is most likley of the best quality?

Probably they do not have any quality bantams. I have heard several people say that they have the worst silkies anywhere.

My daughter got some fairly nice looking Bantam Cochins from them. Not show quality but really pretty pets.

I got some really nice Japanese bantams from them.

I have ordered from Ideal many times in the past and they do indead have very ugly silkies but their grey ones are fairly decent, stay away from the red ones. The Cochins are also very pretty and have the classic rounded tail, However not all of them show this trait. The D uccles are also not that bad. Every now and then you get a Really great quality chick but most of the time there just ok...

We tried the Cochins when they were on the .99 cent sale and not worth a penny more than the $1.19(all one breed price increase) that I paid for them.Sold them all and wouldn't recommend anyone spend the $3.00 each for one from them...way too highly priced for the quality..if you want pet quality then wait for them to run the real cheap bantam specials over the winter.

I've only had blue bantam cochins from them, and they were not show quality. They didn't have the cushiony tails, and their bodies don't appear to be as fluffy as show cochins. But I knew I wasn't ordering show birds, and got them specifically to be broodies. They have turned out to be wonderful broodies, and they are darling pets. They are calm and sweet, and I love them.

I've got bantam sultans, blue silkies, GLW bantams and black frizzle chicks coming this Thursday or Friday. I can hardly wait. I'll let you know how they turn out, if you'd like.

I had a really nice barred bantam cochin rooster from them, he protected the flock with his life !! ... even though he was too small to service them

I do not know if this was just once in a life time thing or not, but I think cackle has the best bantams a couple of years ago. I order a bunch of bantams from them honestly I went a little over board so I sold the Black tail whites I got from them to a friend she showed one of the roos and hens at a poulty show and she placed with the roo. Like I said it might have been once in a life time, but I got good qualty from cackle. I have never ordered from ideal.
