IDEAL RANT

Also I saw your siggie! Do you have mutt chicks? You have various hen breeds but only one roo!
You mean my signature? I've had chickens for years now. I sold my entire flock and took a break, but this year, in February, I bought all my chicks from the Meyer Hatchery. (I live so close that I can drive and pick them up.) So they're all hatchery stock, but pure bred. My favorites are the Buff Brahmas because they are just HUGE and SO FLUFFY! I was supposed to have five females and a male. Well, they all turned out to be hens. So then I found a young Lavender Orpington cockerel, and he's just started crowing, but he still kind of looks like a big baby. He's gonna be BIG. So we picked all the cuties up on Feb 10th. And they are all full grown now. But this summer, with all the mosquitos, they picked up the virus Fowl Pox. :( Everyone survived though, and the egg laying is picking up nicely. Everyone looks beautiful! I really need to post pics....LOL Oh, sorry I got distracted...I really don't plan on letting them hatch any babies. I just like to have a rooster around because I love the crowing, and they usually make great protectors. I might allow a few chicks to hatch though in the spring. I bet they would be darling! (I have a little granddaughter and she's 4, plus a grandson and he's 3. So they love chicks.....

So nice to meet you! I'm Sharon, by the way.

Nice to meet you too =)
I only have three right now.. We started with 5, 3/5 were roosters so we got rid of two and kept the quietest rooster. Then recently my husbands favorite hen died (we don't know why), and so this last weekend we replaced her (a black silkie hen he referred affectionately to as *****) with a silver speckled hamburg hen that is still in quarantine. So now we have two white silkies (hen and roo) and our hamburg.

Well the day after I buy 4 "silkie" chicks locally I find out that Ideal DOES have the silver sebrights in stock and they cancelled the whole order over the silkies despite the fact that when I talked to them on the phone they said they were out of the bantams and I specifically asked about the silkies. I made a new order with 5 silver sebrights and 3 assorted bantams and it shipped last night so I'm just waiting on it now. I'm hoping it gets here today. 4 days after arrival I'm going to send them an email explaining my frustrations and include my original confirmation order in the email and explain why I'm at this point unhappy with them!

I can't believe I had to make two orders to get the silver sebrights! I'm just nervously awaiting their arrival now. I hope everyone makes it okay and if they sent extras I hope they sent bantams~
