Ideal & Roosters (Southern Chick) - Help Needed ASAP

We got our new baby chicks from Ideal TODAY!!!!

We only got the 8 we ordered.

I just got mine today and had ordered 11. They sent only the 11. It is warm enough that they don't need to send any for warmth.

When I ordered my 12 from Ideal, I got just the 12 I ordered. They all have survived and are growing fast.

Keep in mind though, I ordered 11 SLW hens and 1 BO roo, and 2 of the SLW hens are roos.

I'll be having to rehome them, as I don't want more than 1 or 2 roos and I have at least 1 EE roo from another batch of chicks.

Good luck!

Thanks for all the recent feedback! Glad to hear that most people don't have the 10 extra roo experience. I spoke to someone at Ideal today, and she said that they would just send the 5 that I ordered. All you have to do is communicate clearly that you do not want extras, and they'll honor that. They do warn you that they won't take responsibility if the chicks don't make it safely, which is understandable. Because of the way they're set up, they don't have smaller shipping boxes & they don't have express mail as an option. The customer service was very good. Bottom line is, I can't expect Ideal to be My Pet Chicken, so if I'm ordering from them I have to respect their policies or go elsewhere. Otherwise, it would be sort of like going to France and expecting everyone I encountered to speak English. It does leave me feeling grateful that My Pet Chicken was created - it obviously fills an important void for those of us that can't place large orders and can't accomodate too many roos.

I don't have pics (yet), but I wanted to update this thread by saying that all went very well, and 5 cute peeps are now integrating themselves into the household. They got here today, in one day's time, which is truly great given that the temp is extremely high - expected temp of 105-108 today. I am reallly surprised by how tiny the mille bantum is - it's really remarkable what a difference there is from the standards & this little one. Anyway, no extras - just as they promised - and they were packed extremely well with lots of straw. So chalk this up as yet one more very positive chicken buying experience.

Mine are expected to arrive from them next weekend, and I'm even closer to them. I feel good about them arriving in a good condition after reading all of the comments. I have 10 coming that are to ship out on the 5th. I was expecting them on the 7th, but if they arrive the 6th I'll have to change work days and such. At least I know to be ready for them right away. I've already planned to be off from work on the 7th for them to give me the whole weekend to have the DW prepared when I head off to work on the following Monday. I'm already a little excited too!

Now post some pics for us, as we are all anxious to see them.
