It is a contagious disease called Mycoplasma Gallisepticum. It can destroy your whole flock. Are they clean yet? I don't know, you might want to call them & ask.

I must say that their customer service even when it gets dicey is pretty darn good.

From reading the other posts on Ideal and occurrences of MG I believe that only one hatchery in the country has/does officially test clean of MG.

If you read the older message thread (that is now closed) to the end you can read many opinions from experienced forum members and several responses from Ideal themselves and then make up your own mind. That's what I did.

From the info I read, I decided that Ideal chicks had no more chance of "infecting" my current flock than chicks from any other hatchery in the country. So I did NOT stop my order and my little fuzz buts arrived on Friday.

I wouldn't order from them until they could show their birds are MG FREE. Don't take the chance... it's not worth it.

Not saying they are a bad company but I wouldn't risk bring in this disease to your current flock... it sucks trust me.

Buy from MG free flocks make sure they are tested and demand to see it on the NPIP paperwork.

Ideal is NOT shipping MG birds... they would be completely closed down & quarantined if they had even a bit of it. The problem is that when they test birds, sometimes the test results are unclear, making it not qualify for the MG free title. Most likely whoever did the test forgot his glasses that day!
