I have some of their rir hens right now (local co-op buys from ideal). They are now starting to lay - and very well. I also have a few heritage birds about the same age. They do look somewhat different. The production birds are much lighter in color, a little more flighty, and smaller. I have a heritage rooster, and I really like him. Production rir roosters I have found to be aggressive, he is quite mellow. I think you will be very pleased with the hens.
