Ideal's SLW

My local feed store is getting their first chick order in a few weeks. They say they are getting some SLW. I thought about getting a few and wondereed if anyone has any experience with theirs. I know they wont be show quality or anything, just wondered if they grew up nice. Also, any way I can tell pullets as day old?

They are for sure not show quality but mine are VERY sweet girls

I love them and would get more...they lay very nice too. Mine have been laying 4 a week sometimes 5 eggs

Yes, I have two SLW from Ideal (purchased last Feb). I LOVE them and will definitely order more next time I order standards. They are friendly birds, calm and excellent layers. My birds, however, do not come close to meeting the breed standard...but they are beautiful to me.

I average 4-5 eggs...and manytimes more...each week. And the Wyandottes are the only ones who didn't quit laying at all this "winter" (we don't have much of winter here).

Thanks, I might have to go "look" when they get their chicks in. I think they are very pretty birds.

Here are a few pics of my girls from Ideal...they lay fairly well and talk the most out of my mixed flock.

A dayold Silverlaced will have a Tux pattern. The one's with more white/yellow down pattern on the heads will be the females. But with lower quality birds they may be harder to tell. Here is a pic of a chick that is a few weeks old who has just started to get the feathered pattern. This is a boy for reference.
