Just got my 8 silkies moved to newly finished coop and realized the waterer was pouring out the coop (luckily not into the coop!)
For those of you with waterers and feeders inside your coops, can you give me ideas for what will work best and not leak or have to be level...or how to best make it level so this doesn't happen again.
The coop is going to be their main living quarters for the time being so definitely need yalls ideas.
Thank uuuuuuu!

I hang my waterers. I screw a large hook into a rafter, hang a six foot chain to it, and, you know those hooks that some people have their keys hooked on? I hook one to the end of the chain to hook the waterer to. Hanging waterers have a little notch in the handle. BE SURE THE HOOK IS SITTING ON THAT NOTCH. If it's not, the water will all drain out.

As far as a waterer on the floor... If the waterer can't get leveled, I set the spot where the water comes out, towards the direction of the downhill. Because these waterers work by air exposure, the water all filling up on the side that is lowest, it stops the water from all pouring out. ;)

Hopefully I'm not being too confusing.... Feel free to ask me more questions if you're not able to understand what I said, and I'll try my best to re explain. :)

Have you considered a horizontal nipple (HN) waterer? Then you don't have any exposed water to get dumped over or add the humidity. You do have to make sure your birds know how to use it, though.

Vertical nipple waterers have leaked when I've used them. I had one out in the run, and the spot underneath was always damp. Not a good thing in a coop.

I thought bout it but hadn't changed yet...these babies r only 5 weeks old Monday. My others are in run at 8 months old.

What keeps the water from getting sloshed out as they hit it and it hanging in the air?
