Ideas needed to stop smoke from affecting me

The masks and vics may help with the smell while you're in the car but won't help with the residual smell you bring with you into the office. What if you carry around Fabrese and spray it in into the car before you get in? (and then spray yourself when you get out?). Maybe there's a heavy duty Fabrese just for smoke smells.

I know what you mean about having your clothes smell like cigarettes. I went to a bar that allowed smoking and had to leave my coat outside for a week to get rid of the smell.

Also, the smoke will get in to the air filters in cars, so putting on the ac probably doesn't help.

Good luck.

Well....just wanted to say I am a smoker myself and I don't know what kind of job you have but sheesh... ... For some reason I am thinking car hop or rental car agency...so I suppose not. I always smoke with the windows down. If it's raining..too bad...no smoking. Sorry not much help. Wish we could get those ionisers (sp) to run in cars from the cigarette lighters as I hate inflicting my smoke on anyone else.

The candles that remove smoke odors will help with the lingering smoke smell from your clothing. If nothing helps with the gagging reflex that occurs from the odors, Mike Rowe (Dirty Jobs) swears by forcing yourself to SMILE REAL BIG

to prevent yourself from gagging. Good luck!

By the way, I'm a smoker too, but I completely understand the stink that is left behind by smoking in confined spaces. It is horrendous.

Did you ever find anything that works?

I work with a lot of smokers and after they take their break outside, they want to talk and their breath smells so bad of that cigarette smell and I often inhale it. They will sometimes come in my office and the smell lingers in my office for a while. When applicants come in to interview, they reak of cigarette smell and I could just tear my eyes out and pull my nose off of my face. The cigarette smell makes me sneeze and gives me a headache. I have a small jar of Vicks Vapor Rub in my desk and I rub a small amount directly under my nose and that helps me from getting sick from the smoke smell.

Why not keep a fan nearby, and before you get inside the cars that smell smokey, just open all the doors and blow a fan in there for a few minutes? At least, that would blow out all the second hand smoke, then you could do your job.

They make a mini ion machine you can wear around your neck. I used to have one, but I can't think of the name of the company. i worked in an office with a bunch of women who used tooooo much perfume and I had to use it a lot, didn't need it after I retired. I wish i could remember the name of it, cause it really worked.

How does the ion machine work? I could definitley use something like that. I work with heavy perfume users and heavy smokers.

Is it something like this?

Thats not the one I had but is the same principle. It worked really well for me to kill the perfume, before I found it I was sick most of time.
